Elizabeth Ann Gill, a two-year-old girl from Cape Girardeau, Missouri, vanished on June 13, 1965, while playing in her front yard. She was last seen around 4:00 p.m., carrying a small pail of sand near her home. Initially, authorities believed she might have wandered off and fallen into the nearby Mississippi River, but this theory was discounted after an extensive search yielded no evidence, as the path to the river was blocked by streets and a railroad track.
