Lisa Carol Dickinson, a 9-year-old girl, disappeared on September 5, 1976, from Walnut Creek, California. She was last seen around 7:00 p.m., riding her red Raleigh 10-speed bicycle from her home on Los Cerros to the nearby BART station. She was expected to return by 8:00 p.m., but never made it back. Her worried parents reported her missing at 9:00 p.m.
A search was launched, and her bike was found three hours later, abandoned in a walnut grove near Heather Farms Park, close to the Contra Costa Canal. Despite an extensive search of the canal and the park, no clues to her whereabouts were found. Witnesses reported seeing a man, described as being in his early 40s, with brown curly hair and a mustache, riding a medium-sized motorcycle near the area. A young girl was seen riding on the motorcycle with him, but it has never been confirmed if this was Lisa.
Louis Richard Fresquez, a convicted sex offender, became the primary suspect in Lisa's case. Though he was imprisoned for other sex crimes, authorities have never been able to gather sufficient evidence to charge him with her disappearance. Lisa's case remains unsolved, and she is still considered missing under suspicious circumstances.
