On the day of her disappearance, Brandi and her 2-year-old half-sister, Tiffani Wise, were abducted from their family home following the murder of their mother, Beverly Wise, who was found stabbed to death. Their 8-month-old sister was left behind unharmed. The girls were reportedly taken by a man resembling Brandi’s father, Roy Summers, though this could not be confirmed.
Witnesses saw a man placing Tiffani into a gold Camaro, but Brandi was not seen during this abduction. Over the years, there were unconfirmed sightings of Roy, Brandi, and Tiffani in states like Idaho, Utah, and Nevada. Roy, who had a history of violence and unstable relationships, was eventually arrested in 1979, and some of the girls' belongings were found in his possession. Despite this, Brandi and Tiffani were never located, and their whereabouts remain unknown.
In 1980, a woman named Juanita Iwakiri was convicted of aiding in the abduction of Tiffani, though her conviction was later overturned. Various individuals were suspected of being involved in hiding the children, but no concrete evidence led to their recovery.
