Tara Cossey, a 12-year-old girl from San Pablo, California, went missing on June 6, 1979. On that day, she left her home to walk to a nearby liquor store, Pirelli's, to buy a bag of sugar for her mother. She was last seen inside the Montalvin Shopping Center but never returned home. Tara was wearing cutoff Levi's jeans, a blue tank top, thong sandals, and had a red long-sleeved shirt tied around her waist.
Tara was a biracial girl, of Choctaw Native American and Caucasian descent, standing at 4'11" and weighing 65 pounds. Despite extensive searches, Tara has not been heard from since that day, and there have been very few leads in her case. Investigators have classified her disappearance as an endangered missing person case, and her family continues to seek answers decades later.
Her case remains unsolved, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Department. Age-progressed images have been developed to assist in the search efforts, but Tara's whereabouts are still unknown.
