Donel Jacoby Minor, a 2-month-old infant, was abducted from his home in Inglewood, California, on December 20, 1984. That day, an unidentified man posing as a photographer visited Donel's mother, Deanna Trammel, claiming to have photos of her son. Trammel had recently had portraits of Donel taken, so she allowed the man into her apartment. While she briefly left the room to get him a glass of water, the man fled with Donel, and neither has been seen since.
The abductor was described as a Caucasian male, approximately 6 feet tall, with brown hair, a mustache, and a thin build. He was wearing a white dress shirt, a dark tie, and dark trousers. Despite extensive investigations and a sketch of the suspect, he has never been identified, and no leads have emerged linking the man to any portrait businesses operating in the area at the time.
Trammel passed a polygraph test, and there has been no evidence linking her to the crime. Donel’s case remains unsolved, and authorities have released age-progressed images over the years in hopes of gathering new information. The case is classified as a non-family abduction, and the Inglewood Police Department continues to search for any clues regarding Donel’s whereabouts.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and other organizations have been involved in efforts to keep the case in the public eye, but no breakthroughs have been made.
