Cherie Nicole Barnes, a 2-year-old girl, was last seen on January 7, 1987, in Kansas City, Missouri. She had recently moved from Nashville, Tennessee, to St. Louis with her mother, Elizabeth, and her stepfather, Larry Vasser, in late 1986. Elizabeth, who was forced into prostitution by Larry, disappeared on December 1, 1986, and her body was found in the Mississippi River two months later in February 1987. Despite the discovery of Elizabeth's body, Cherie was nowhere to be found.
