Ilene Beth Misheloff, a 13-year-old from Dublin, California, disappeared on January 30, 1989, while walking home from Wells Middle School. She was last seen around 3:00 p.m. on Amador Valley Boulevard, near Village Parkway, by several witnesses who saw her walking alone. Ilene was taking a common shortcut through John Mape Park, where her key fob and other personal items, including her backpack, were later found. Investigators believe her belongings may have been placed in the park after her disappearance, indicating potential foul play.
At the time of her disappearance, Ilene was wearing a charcoal gray pullover, a pink and gray skirt, black Keds sneakers, and carrying a hard plastic flute case. She had braces on her teeth and distinctive freckles across her face, along with double-pierced ears and a small lump on her left ankle.
Ilene’s case remains unsolved, despite ongoing efforts from the community and law enforcement. For over three decades, annual walks were held in her honor to keep her memory alive and encourage any potential new leads. Multiple suspects, including known criminals like Timothy Bindner and James Daveggio, were investigated, but no charges were ever brought in connection with her case.
Anyone with information about Ilene’s disappearance is encouraged to contact the Dublin Police Department, as her family and the community still seek answers.
