Andre Bryant, an infant just six weeks old, went missing on March 29, 1989, under mysterious circumstances from Brooklyn, New York. On the day of his disappearance, Andre was last seen with his mother, Monique Rivera, who had taken him shopping with two women she had met the previous day. The two women, driving a burgundy Pontiac Grand Am with possible Maryland plates, had befriended Rivera while she was out with her children and persuaded her to join them on a shopping trip.
On March 29, they called Rivera from a pay phone, asking her to bring Andre along for another shopping outing.
Later that day, Rivera’s body was discovered in a wooded area near City Island Road in the Bronx, beaten and strangled, but Andre was nowhere to be found. Despite a thorough investigation, the two women have never been identified, and no trace of Andre has ever been recovered. Investigators suspected that Andre might have been sold into an adoption ring, and his case was linked to two other unsolved child abduction cases in Harlem that same year, involving African-American boys Christopher Dansby and Shane Walker.
