On the morning of May 24, 1990, 60-year-old Elvin Cecil Hodge left his residence on Central Avenue in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It was approximately 8:00 a.m. when he set out on foot, intending to pay some bills. Mr. Hodge, who did not drive, was known to utilize the city's bus system to get around. Due to arthritis that had crippled his left leg, he relied on a cane to walk. He was reportedly heading toward Rossville Boulevard. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing beige pants and a burgundy jacket. He may have also been wearing eyeglasses with heavy black frames. Mr. Hodge has not been seen or heard from since that morning. Elvin Hodge was a man with established roots in his community. He was described as a well-known church piano player. Physically, he was an African American male with graying black hair, brown eyes, and a mustache. His height was estimated to be between 5'8" and 5'11", and his weight between 149 and 165 pounds. Authorities were informed that he sometimes used the alias Thomas Wilson. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance are considered suspicious by investigators, who believe that foul play could be a factor in his case. The report of his disappearance was filed with the Chattanooga Police Department on May 25, 1990. The investigation into Elvin Hodge's disappearance has remained open for over three decades, yet his whereabouts are still unknown. The lack of contact since the day he vanished and the suspicious nature of the case have led to the classification of his disappearance as an endangered missing person case. Over the years, law enforcement has continued to seek information from the public that might shed light on what happened to him after he left his home to run errands. Despite these efforts, the case has grown cold, leaving his family and community without answers. The official investigation remains with the Chattanooga Police Department, and the case of the missing church pianist is an enduring mystery.
