Todd Battaglino, a 50-year-old avid boater, was last seen on January 7, 2019, when he left the Royal Palm Marina in Englewood, Florida. He departed around 3:00 p.m. on his 18-foot white Parker boat, intending to go fishing in the Gulf of Mexico, which he frequently did alone. When he did not return, his family reported him missing early the following day.
A search operation was launched involving multiple agencies, including the U.S.
Coast Guard, the Sarasota and Charlotte County Sheriff’s Offices, and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. On January 8, around 6:00 p.m., a Coast Guard helicopter located Battaglino's boat adrift approximately 16 miles west of Stump Pass Beach State Park. The boat’s engine was still running, and fishing lines were in the water, but Battaglino was nowhere to be found.
Despite extensive search efforts that covered more than 3,800 square miles over a period of 98 hours, no further trace of Battaglino was found. The search was suspended on January 9, 2019, and Battaglino is presumed to have been lost at sea. His case remains unresolved.Last Seen: Nov 14, 2023
