Vicki Lynn Nisbett, a 29-year-old woman, went missing on December 14, 1991, from Cedar Park, Texas. She was last seen leaving her apartment at the Anderson Mill complex, heading to a company Christmas party, but she never arrived. At the time, Vicki was in the process of divorcing her estranged husband, Rex Nisbett, although they were still living together for the sake of their three children during the holiday season.
Her disappearance raised suspicions, particularly as her husband reported her missing two days later, claiming she had needed some time away and might have gone to Austin.
In the weeks following her disappearance, traces of Vicki's blood were discovered in her apartment's master bedroom. The bloodstains, partially cleaned up, led investigators to believe she had been the victim of foul play. In February 1992, her car, a brown 1987 Dodge Aries, was found abandoned in a parking lot off Mopac Boulevard in Austin, having been there for several weeks.
Rex Nisbett became the primary suspect in the case, and in 2013, over two decades later, he was indicted for her murder based on blood evidence and witness testimony. Although convicted in 2014 and sentenced to 42 years in prison, the conviction was overturned in 2016 due to procedural errors. However, the conviction was reinstated in 2018.
