Laurie Depies, a 20-year-old woman from the Town of Menasha, Wisconsin, was last seen on the night of August 19, 1992. After leaving her job at the Fox River Mall in Appleton, Laurie drove to her boyfriend’s apartment complex on West Wilson Avenue. Her boyfriend, his sister, and a friend heard her car pull into the lot around 10:15 p.m., but Laurie never entered the apartment. When they went outside, they found her locked gray Volkswagen Rabbit with a Styrofoam cup of soda on the hood, but there was no sign of Laurie. Her purse and overnight bag were still inside the car.

Despite thorough searches, there was no evidence of a struggle, and no one witnessed her being taken. Authorities believe Laurie may have been abducted by someone she knew, as she likely would not have willingly left with a stranger. Foul play is strongly suspected in her disappearance. An unidentified thumbprint was found on the cup, but it has not led to any significant breakthroughs.

In 2010, convicted serial killer Larry DeWayne Hall confessed to her kidnapping and murder, but investigators were unable to find Laurie's body or physical evidence to support his confession. Hall remains a suspect in her case, though no charges have been filed in connection to Laurie's disappearance. Her case remains unsolved, and her family continues to seek answers.
