Dorothy Smith Kelley, aged 62, was last seen on June 9, 1993, at Balmorhea Lake, Texas. She had been camping with her husband when she mysteriously disappeared. Her husband left their motor home for approximately 90 minutes to collect rocks, and when he returned, the motor home was locked, and Dorothy was gone. Despite thorough searches and the use of tracking dogs, her scent was only traced to a nearby picnic table before the trail went cold.
At the time of her disappearance, Dorothy was wearing a red plaid flannel shirt, a white button-down blouse, jeans, and SAS shoes. She had distinctive scars from joint replacement surgeries on her hips and left knee and two small scars on her right cheek. Dorothy's disappearance is being treated as an unsolved homicide, with foul play suspected, but no solid leads have emerged.
