Melissa Fadden, a 13-year-old girl from Lowell, Massachusetts, was last seen on March 3, 1997. At the time of her disappearance, she had a history of running away, which initially led authorities to believe she may have left voluntarily. However, Melissa has not been heard from since that day, and her case remains unsolved.
There have been some troubling developments over the years.
In 1999, James Howley, a man from Lowell who had connections to both Melissa and her friend, Tabitha Potter, was identified as a suspect after Tabitha’s murder. Howley committed suicide after being questioned in connection to that case, and police later confirmed his involvement in Tabitha's death through DNA evidence. Given his relationship with Melissa, investigators suspect Howley may also have been involved in her disappearance. Despite this lead, no conclusive evidence has been found, and Melissa's whereabouts remain unknown.
