In the early morning hours of March 30, 1997, 14-year-old Kevin Lamont McClam was in his family's home on the Charleston Naval Weapons Station in Goose Creek, South Carolina, playing video games. He had spent the evening with his younger sister, and after his mother returned home, they spoke for a while before she and his sister went to bed.
