In the autumn of 1997, the life of the Holt family in Chicago, Illinois, was irrevocably changed. Nathaniel LaTrench Holt Sr., a 33-year-old machine operator for the Wrigley Gum Company, disappeared. On October 21, 1997, family members saw him for the last time as he left his residence in the 6700 block of South Evans Avenue.
