Yansis Massiel Juarez was last seen on May 5, 2002, in Miami, Florida, when she was just 15 years old. Yansis left her home to walk to a friend's house about a mile away but never arrived. After her family discovered she was missing, they conducted their own search for about five hours before reporting her disappearance to the police. Notably, Yansis left a farewell note that was not found until days later, adding to the mystery surrounding her case.
