Dori Ann Myers, a 43-year-old woman from Fort Pierce, Florida, went missing on January 10, 2006. That evening, she was last seen at the St. Lucie Inn, where she interacted with two unidentified men who claimed to be Marines injured in Iraq. Known for her kindness toward military personnel, Dori invited the men to stay at her home for the night. Neighbors later reported hearing a commotion at her home around midnight, but no one intervened.
At approximately 3:00 a.m. on January 11, 2006, her house caught fire under suspicious circumstances. Witnesses saw Dori's black 1998 Toyota Corolla being driven away from the scene. The car was discovered five hours later, burned and abandoned at a boat ramp in Glades County, about 80 miles from her home. Dori's purse, phone, and other personal belongings were left behind at her home, and her dog and cat perished in the fire. Investigators initially considered the possibility that Dori set the fire herself, but they later concluded that foul play was likely involved, with the two men she had met earlier being prime suspects.
Dori’s case remains unsolved, and despite numerous efforts to identify the men and uncover what happened to her, she has never been found. Authorities declared her legally deceased in 2007, although her case remains active.
