In the winter of 2006, a 45-year-old man named Steve Dwayne Broadaway vanished from Greensboro, North Carolina, leaving behind a trail of uncertainty for his family. On February 15, 2006, Steve's wife dropped him off at Moses Cone Hospital to visit a friend. This was the last time she would see her husband. He was expected to be picked up later, but he left the hospital before his wife returned. At the time of his disappearance, Steve had shoulder-length brown hair, hazel eyes, and distinctive tattoos of an eagle on his shoulder and feathers on his right calf. He was last seen wearing a green flannel shirt, blue jeans, work boots, and a light-colored cap.

Following his departure from the hospital, there were reported sightings of Steve at Hams Restaurant and Becky's Bar & Grill. It is believed that he may have walked to Becky's Bar & Grill on North Church Street, which was about a mile from his home. According to his wife, he may have become upset that it was taking her a while to return and decided to walk to the bar. When she could not find him, she returned home, expecting him to call when he was ready to be picked up, knowing he only had about $20 with him. When he did not return home or make contact, she reported him missing.

The Greensboro Police Department opened an investigation into Steve's disappearance, but leads have been scarce. Despite searches of the surrounding areas, including the use of divers in nearby lakes, no trace of him has been found. While authorities have stated there is not enough evidence to suspect foul play, his family believes he may have met with harm. The case remains an active and unsolved missing person investigation, leaving his loved ones with unanswered questions and a desire for closure.
