However, when her brother arrived later that day, Janteyl was gone. The apartment door was unlocked, and her personal belongings, including her purse, glasses, and winter clothes, were left behind, suggesting she hadn't
planned to be away for long.
Phone records revealed that Janteyl received a call from a burner phone shortly before she disappeared. This call was traced to the father of her unborn child, a 26-year-old man, though no charges or arrests have been made in relation to the case. Despite some speculation that she may have left voluntarily, her family does not believe she ran away, as she had no history of extended disappearances, and they were supportive of her pregnancy.
Authorities have considered the possibility that Janteyl may have left with an adult male, and there have been unconfirmed sightings suggesting she could be in areas like Wilmington, Philadelphia, or even as far as New York.
