Mary Elizabeth Lozano, a 4-year-old girl, went missing from her home in Venice, California, on the night of February 13, 1969. Mary had been put to bed at 9:30 p.m. by her aunt, and her family believed she was asleep. In the early hours of the morning, her parents and a disabled aunt heard what sounded like cries for help but dismissed them, thinking Mary was talking in her sleep. Her three brothers, who shared the bedroom with her, slept through the night undisturbed.
