Andrew John Amato, a 4-year-old boy, disappeared on September 30, 1978, while playing in the woods near his home in Webster, Massachusetts. That morning, Andrew was with his sister and cousin, but after venturing deeper into the woods with his cousin, he tripped, fell, and lost a toy. Frustrated, Andrew began crying and refused to leave without finding the toy. His cousin returned to the house for help, but by the time they came back, Andrew had vanished.
