Patricia Ford, a 65-year-old woman, went missing from Oldsmar, Florida, on January 26, 1982. On that day, she withdrew $5,000 from her bank in Tampa with the intent of purchasing antique figurines from a woman who was allegedly moving into a nursing home. However, Patricia never arrived to complete the transaction, and she has not been heard from since. Ford, who regularly dealt in antiques at the Oldsmar Flea Market, was reported missing after this unusual disappearance.
Her vehicle, a 1976 Ford, was found abandoned just two blocks from her home on Lafayette Boulevard and National Orange Drive. The discovery of her car raised suspicions, as the driver's seat had been pushed far back, too far for someone of Ford's height. Additionally, her seat cushion was found on the passenger-side floor, suggesting that someone else may have driven and parked the vehicle. Despite these clues, no evidence of foul play was found at the scene, and the seller of the antiques Ford intended to buy was never located.
At the time of her disappearance, Ford was in good health aside from suffering from severe asthma. She was also engaged to be married, and it was highly uncharacteristic for her to leave without notifying anyone. Law enforcement suspects that she may have fallen victim to a scheme designed to rob or abduct her. Despite an ongoing investigation, Patricia Ford's case remains unsolved, leaving her fate a mystery more than four decades later. The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office continues to treat her case as suspicious.
