On a summer day in July of 1987, 38-year-old Larry Lewis Plummer was enjoying time on Mark Twain Lake in Ralls County, Missouri. He was from the nearby city of Liberty in Clay County and was a passenger in a bass boat on the water that day. What began as a leisurely day took a tragic turn when a single-boat accident occurred. The sudden incident ejected Plummer from the vessel and into the water of the large lake. The driver of the boat immediately began to search for Larry, but he was nowhere to be found in the vast expanse of the lake. Law enforcement was alerted, and an extensive and thorough search of the area where the accident happened was promptly initiated. Rescuers scoured the lake's surface and the surrounding shorelines, hoping to find any sign of Mr. Plummer. Despite the dedicated efforts of all involved, the search was ultimately unsuccessful. His body was not located, and the search efforts concluded with him still missing. The prevailing belief among authorities is that Larry Plummer tragically drowned as a result of the boating accident. In the many years that have passed since that unfortunate day, his body has never been recovered, leaving a painful void and an unresolved grief for his loved ones. The case remains a somber reminder of the unpredictability of life and the dangers that can accompany recreational water activities. The official investigation concluded that the incident was an accident, but without the recovery of his remains, a definitive and final closure has remained elusive for his family.
