Joseph Wayne Daggett, aged 27, was last seen on the night of March 1, 1988, when he left his girlfriend's home in Fort Stockton, Texas, around 10:30 p.m. to return to his ranch. He never arrived, and his pickup truck was later found abandoned at the Midland International Airport, with its cargo of feed still intact. Daggett was last seen wearing a black felt cowboy hat, a white long-sleeved western shirt with grey pinstripes, wheat-colored Wrangler jeans, and brown cowboy boots.
He may have also been wearing a gold Seiko watch and a distinctive custom belt buckle.
Despite extensive searches, Daggett's body was never found. In the years following his disappearance, authorities uncovered evidence suggesting foul play. Investigators believe Daggett was killed due to an affair he was having with another man's wife. In 2011, Lightsey Nathan Saul, Jr. was convicted of conspiracy to commit capital murder in connection to Daggett's case, but no one has been charged with actually causing Daggett's death.
