Donyelle Chrishum Johnson, a 21-year-old from Largo, Florida, went missing on April 4, 1989. She was last seen leaving her home to attend a class at St. Petersburg Junior College but never arrived. Her car, a 1987 Nissan Pulsar, was found abandoned behind a Hardee’s restaurant in Largo. A man identifying himself as "Johnny Bailey" called a towing company to report the vehicle had mechanical issues, but this individual has never been identified.
Shortly after her disappearance, Donyelle's family received a letter, purportedly written by her, stating that she was involved in drugs and had moved to Orlando to straighten out her life. Handwriting experts confirmed the letter was written by Donyelle, but she has not been heard from since.
At the time of her disappearance, Donyelle had been in a relationship with Cleveland Hill, a married man linked to two other missing women, Retha Hiers and Margaret Dash, both of whom vanished under similar circumstances. Hill, who had a violent past, was considered a suspect in all three disappearances but was never formally charged. He continued to deny involvement until his death in 2018.
Authorities suspect foul play in Donyelle's case, but her whereabouts remain unknown. Her disappearance remains one of several cold cases tied to Hill, leaving the families without closure.
