This subsequent search yielded a child's winter boot that was consistent with the type Kyle was wearing, as well as a piece of material believed to be from his snowsuit. However, the hope that these findings would finally bring answers was short-lived, as forensic analysis determined the bone belonged to an animal. The case of Kyle Jansen is a heart-wrenching overview of a family's worst nightmare, a scenario where a momentary lapse in communication led to a devastating and permanent loss.
