She had several distinguishing features, including a plastic replacement for her left cheekbone and a dental bridge, both the result of a prior accident. She also had scars on her left cheek and abdomen.

Richardson was involved in prostitution at the time, and foul play was suspected early on in her disappearance. In 1999, William Darrell Lindsey, a convicted serial killer, confessed to her murder. He claimed to have disposed of her body in an alligator-infested pit near a local school in St. Augustine, though her remains were never found. Lindsey was already linked to several other murders in the area and eventually pleaded guilty to Richardson's murder. He passed away in prison in 2015.

Richardson's case remains officially unsolved, with no physical evidence of her body being recovered despite extensive search efforts. Investigators continue to treat her disappearance as a murder, as Lindsey’s confession provided enough evidence to close the case legally. However, her family has never received full closure.
