In 1996, Lora Lyann Stubbs, a 25-year-old mother, was living in Cincinnati, Ohio, on the 1300 block of Brewster Avenue. At the time, she had a young son, for whom she had previously given custody to her mother. Lora had a history of drug abuse but was reportedly in recovery and clean at the time of her disappearance. She is described as a biracial female with brown hair and brown eyes. Distinguishing features include a small rose tattoo located above her left breast and a small scar on the inside of her left eyebrow. On a day in 1996, Lora called her parents, who lived in nearby Hamilton, Ohio. She told them she was feeling sick and wanted to come stay with them. Lora mentioned she was going to get something to eat and would then go back to the apartment she shared with her boyfriend, asking her parents to pick her up from there. She was last seen near the corner of Gilbert Avenue and McMillan Street in Cincinnati. When her parents arrived at the apartment to pick her up, Lora was not there. There is some discrepancy in the exact date she was last seen, with some sources stating June 9, 1996, and others September 9, 1996. Lora Lyann Stubbs has not been seen or heard from since that day. Following her disappearance, her family filed a missing person report with the Cincinnati Police Department. There has been no activity on her Social Security number since she went missing. Investigators have stated that there are very few clues in her case, making the circumstances surrounding her disappearance a mystery. There have been suggestions that she may have been in Hamilton, Ohio, for a period before she vanished completely. The investigation into her disappearance remains open.
