On a summer evening in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, 58-year-old Vernold R. Gerler was seen for the last time on July 15, 2004. At the time of his disappearance, he was described as a white male, standing at 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing approximately 185 pounds.
