In the summer of 2005, a family's life was forever altered. On the morning of August 12th, 34-year-old Wendy Robinson was at her family's apartment in the Howard Houses in Brownsville, Brooklyn. After receiving a phone call, she told her grandmother she was going to the store and would be right back. Wendy was last seen at approximately 9:00 a.m. in the vicinity of the 300 block of Mother Gaston Avenue. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a medium-sized beige shirt, white shorts, and white tennis shoes. She also wore a blonde or brown wig. Wendy has distinguishing burn scars on her left cheek and left shoulder. She has never been heard from again. Wendy was a mother to two sons, who she adored. Her family describes her as a loving mother and grandmother to children she has never had the chance to meet. In the years since she vanished, her family has been left with a void and an agonizing search for answers. Her grandmother vividly remembers their last conversation, a simple exchange that has become a haunting memory. The lack of surveillance cameras in 2005 meant that when Wendy walked out of her apartment building, she seemingly vanished without a trace, leaving her family with no indication of which direction she went or if she got into a vehicle. The New York City Police Department investigated Wendy's disappearance. Her then-boyfriend, with whom she was living at the time, was investigated and ultimately cleared of any involvement. Despite the active cold case, leads have been scarce over the years. The circumstances surrounding what happened that day remain a mystery, leaving her loved ones to grapple with the pain of not knowing. Her family continues to hold out hope that someone, somewhere, has information that could finally bring them the closure they so desperately seek. The case of Wendy Robinson is a somber reminder of the enduring pain and uncertainty that families of the missing endure.
