Craig Hoskie, a 22-year-old Navy trainee, was last seen in the early hours of April 12, 2008, on Pensacola Beach, Florida, behind the Days Inn hotel. He had arrived with friends the previous evening, and they spent the night drinking and socializing. Around midnight, Hoskie and his friends decided to go swimming. One friend left the beach after some time but later returned to find Hoskie's belongings—his wallet, clothes, and shoes—still on the beach, with no sign of him.
