Roger Kenneth Sawyer, 68, went missing on March 5, 2011, while staying at the Flamingo Campground in Everglades National Park, Florida. Originally from Oregon, Sawyer was on a cross-country trip with his family. That evening, Sawyer was last seen around 6:00 p.m. near the beach. When the family reconvened at their motor home around 8:30 p.m., Sawyer did not return, and his family reported him missing.
Despite extensive search efforts in the remote campground area, no signs of Sawyer were found. Sawyer, an experienced outdoorsman, remains missing under mysterious circumstances, and authorities have been unable to determine if he became lost or if something else caused his disappearance.
