Karen Burger, a 56-year-old woman, was last seen on July 25, 2011, in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Karen had told her father she was going out with a man she had met at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting, but she never returned home. This raised concerns as it was highly unusual for Karen to leave her small dog behind, which her friends noted was something she would never have done voluntarily. At the time of her disappearance, she was described as 5’3”, weighing around 120 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes.

In the days leading up to her disappearance, Karen had requested that her daughter, son-in-law, and their young child temporarily leave her home, and they stayed at a nearby motel. Curiously, Karen was seen at the same motel a few hours after her family checked in, though she did not stay with them. Her family eventually left the area, and on July 28, they were also reported missing. Months later, around Christmas of 2011, her family was located in Ohio, but they claimed to have no knowledge of Karen’s whereabouts.

Despite initial investigations, few clues have emerged, and Karen’s case remains unsolved. The New Smyrna Beach Police Department has encouraged anyone with information to come forward as her family continues to seek answers regarding her mysterious disappearance.
