In the winter of 1976, a 31-year-old woman named Linda Sue Endorf vanished from Tukwila, Washington. On December 8th, Linda, a ticket agent for Western Airlines, was at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. There are conflicting accounts of her last known moments; some sources state her husband, James, dropped her off for her shift and she never reported to work, while others indicate she finished her shift at 10:30 p.m. and was heading home. What is certain is that after that day, Linda Endorf was never seen or heard from again. At the time of her disappearance, she was the mother of a thirteen-year-old daughter. Linda had brown hair and brown eyes and a distinctive burn scar on her right shoulder. More than a week passed before her husband, James Endorf, officially reported her missing on December 17, 1976. In the months that followed Linda's disappearance, James's actions raised suspicion. Just two months after she was reported missing, he filed for divorce, which was finalized in 1978. He was awarded custody of their daughter and nearly all of the couple's property and assets. For years, Linda's case grew cold. Authorities could find no evidence that she ever used her Social Security number or had any contact with law enforcement or other government agencies after December 1976. A dark turn of events years later brought renewed attention to Linda's case. In January 1993, James Endorf's second wife, Debra Ann Endorf, was reported missing. A day later, her body was discovered in the trunk of her car in Tacoma; she had been strangled. James Endorf became the prime suspect in the murder of his second wife. Debra had reportedly told others that she was afraid of her husband and believed he might kill her. Before charges could be filed, about a month after Debra's body was found, James took his own life. He left behind a note but did not confess to any involvement in either Linda's disappearance or Debra's murder. Following these tragic events, the investigation into Linda's 1976 disappearance was reopened, but no new evidence could be found. Linda Sue Endorf's case remains unsolved, and she is considered to be missing under suspicious circumstances. The story of her disappearance is a somber tale that has left her loved ones without answers for decades, shadowed by the troubling and violent history of the man she was married to.
