In the winter of 1980, a 17-year-old named Teresa J. McDonald vanished while trying to make her way to her parents' home in Rhea County, Tennessee. She was last seen in Tunnel Hill, Georgia, where she was reportedly hitchhiking. At some point during her journey, she stopped to use a payphone to call her family, a conversation that would be the last time she was ever heard from.
