Missing

John South, a 54-year-old Vietnam veteran, went missing from Mountain City, Tennessee, on December 17, 1998, under suspicious circumstances. On the day of his disappearance, South had plans to meet his family to decorate a Christmas tree, but when they arrived at his home on December 18, he was not there. His house was found unlocked, and his wood stove, the only source of heat, had gone cold. South's white Subaru Justy, which had a distinctive cracked taillight, was also missing.
