On a summer day in Neosho, Missouri, 78-year-old Robert C. Putnam, a man living with dementia and a heart condition, went for one of his customary walks near his family's farm on Tower Road and vanished. The date was August 3, 2000. He was last observed walking less than half a mile to the east of the farm. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing gray coveralls and a blue or white ball cap.
