Maritza Pavon Rivera, 36, was last heard from on May 8, 2012, after contacting her family to inform them that she had successfully crossed the river and was in McAllen, Texas. Maritza mentioned that she had been in McAllen for about a week, waiting to continue her journey to Houston. According to reports, she was traveling with a group, but during the journey, Maritza was unable to keep walking and was left behind near Highway 281 under bridge 69.
