In the late spring of 2012, 46-year-old Kim Remmel was living in Arvada, Colorado, with her great-aunt. Known for her passionate advocacy for animal welfare, she was deeply involved in causes such as rescuing and training Belgian Malinois dogs and opposing legislation that would harm wild horses and burros.
