Peter Joseph Bonick, 17, went missing on February 22, 1970, from his home in San Mateo, California. On that morning, he was last seen leaving his residence on Ginnever Street and later spotted hitchhiking along State Route 92, potentially heading toward Half Moon Bay. Bonick was wearing a beige or yellow shirt and blue jeans at the time, and he suffered from scoliosis, which caused one of his shoulder blades to be larger or higher than the other.
