In the autumn of 1985, a 36-year-old avid outdoorsman named Kevin O'Keefe embarked on a solo camping and photography expedition into the remote wilderness of Glacier Bay National Park in Alaska. An experienced adventurer from Sacramento, California, he was well-prepared for the challenges of the Alaskan backcountry, having even taken a survival course.
