Heidi Ann Zampell, a 22-year-old woman, went missing from Naples, Florida, on June 18, 1987. On that day, she finished her shift at Bathtique, a store in Coastland Mall, and asked a friend to drop her off at a residence in the rural area of Golden Gate Estates. The home belonged to a minister named Arthur Sims, but Zampell reportedly did not explain why she wanted to visit the location. Her friend complied, dropping her at the driveway and leaving her to walk the rest of the way.
This was the last time she was seen.
Arthur Sims later told authorities that he had no knowledge of Zampell, she was not a member of his church, and she did not visit his house that day. Investigators quickly began to suspect that Zampell may have been taken against her will, as she left behind all her belongings, including her last paycheck. There was no evidence to suggest she intended to leave voluntarily, and her family emphasized that she had no history of disappearing or running away. At the time of her disappearance, Zampell was carrying only a makeup bag, had no valid driver’s license, and did not possess a passport, further complicating theories of a planned departure.
Despite extensive investigations, including interviews with friends, family, and even a boyfriend stationed in West Germany, no significant leads emerged. Her disappearance has been classified as involuntary and remains unsolved.
