Amalia Monserrat Marquez, a 42-year-old woman, was last seen on April 1, 1998, in Los Angeles, California. At the time of her disappearance, Amalia was a key figure in the organization Cleargreen Inc., a company that followed the teachings of the author and mystic Carlos Castaneda. She was heavily involved with Castaneda's group and, under the alias "Talia Bey," became one of his closest followers. Castaneda's followers were known for distancing themselves from family and adopting new identities, as Amalia did.

After Castaneda’s death from liver cancer in April 1998, Amalia and several other women close to him vanished. Amalia collected Castaneda’s ashes, and following that, she disappeared along with four other female followers. One of these women was later found deceased in the desert near Death Valley, but Amalia and the others remain missing. Their sudden disappearance, along with the disconnection of their phone lines on the same day, has led to speculation about a potential group suicide or other tragic circumstances. Despite extensive investigations, Amalia’s whereabouts remain unknown, and her case remains unsolved.
