In the autumn of 1999, a young mother named Kristie Annette Moon, aged 26, disappeared from Parsons, a small town in Decatur County, Tennessee. She was a female with brown hair and brown eyes, and was last seen on October 30, 1999. At the time of her disappearance, she was described as being 5'4" tall and weighing around 120 pounds. The clothing she was believed to have been wearing when she was last seen included medium blue colored jeans and a gray pullover shirt that had red stripes. Kristie was a mother to two children, and according to her daughter, she was a good person who had become involved with the wrong crowd. She was unemployed and her only source of income was weekly child support checks, the last of which was never cashed. Shortly before she went missing, Kristie had moved with her children out of the Decaturville home of her boyfriend, Michael Pearcy, and back in with her mother. Pearcy claimed he last saw Kristie on October 27, 1999, stating he dropped her off at her mother's residence in Parsons. However, her mother disputes this, saying Kristie never arrived. All of her personal belongings, including her purse and driver's license, were left behind. The circumstances surrounding Kristie's disappearance are troubling. Less than a month after she was last seen, on November 26, Michael Pearcy was killed in a shootout with police during a routine traffic stop. At the time of his death, he was wanted for questioning in connection with another man's death and is considered the primary suspect in Kristie's disappearance. The case has received significantly less attention than other local missing persons cases, which has been a point of frustration for some in the community. Despite the passage of time, Kristie's case remains unsolved, leaving her family without answers about what happened to her. The Decatur County Sheriff's Office is the investigating agency for this long-unresolved case.
