Judith Osteen, a 60-year-old woman from Old Town, Florida, disappeared on December 15, 2007, in a case marked by disturbing circumstances. Osteen lived with her developmentally disabled sister in a rural area, north of U.S. 19/98, when a man broke into their home late at night. According to her sister, the intruder, described as a white male with short gray hair and a receding hairline, entered her bedroom and forced her to the floor.
Judith entered the room during the attack, at which point the man grabbed her and forcibly took her out of the house. Her sister, too frightened to act immediately, waited several hours before a housekeeper reported the abduction the following morning.
There was no sign of forced entry, and rain on the night of her disappearance may have erased any potential physical evidence such as tire tracks or footprints. Investigators noted that Judith's shoes and purse were left behind, which added to the urgency and concern regarding her safety. Despite an extensive investigation and a sketch of the abductor, he remains unidentified.
Authorities considered whether Judith’s disappearance could be linked to a previous tragedy—her boyfriend, Charles Carr, was killed in 2004 during a robbery. However, there was no conclusive evidence connecting the two events.
