Melissa Ann Darling, a 33-year-old mother of two from Sulphur Springs, Texas, disappeared on June 10, 2011, just six days before her 34th birthday. She was last seen in Grant, Oklahoma, at the Choctaw Casino and Resort around 1:30 a.m. Surveillance footage showed her leaving the casino with a man identified as Jeremy Blake Upchurch. She was reportedly following him in her own vehicle, a black Ford Sport Trac. At approximately 1:50 a.m., a call was made from Melissa's cell phone to an individual who lived about a mile from the casino. After that call, her phone was no longer active, and she has not been seen or heard from since. At the time of her disappearance, Melissa was wearing a blue and white baseball shirt and jeans. A few days after she was last seen, Melissa's black Ford Sport Trac was discovered abandoned near Hugo Lake, Oklahoma. The vehicle was locked and had two flat tires. The discovery of her vehicle prompted extensive searches of the area, with law enforcement utilizing resources such as cadaver dogs. The investigation into her disappearance has involved multiple agencies, including the Sulphur Springs Police Department, the Texas Rangers, and Oklahoma authorities. Jeremy Blake Upchurch, the man last seen with Melissa, has been identified as a person of interest in her case due to his criminal record. Despite the ongoing investigation and numerous searches, Melissa's whereabouts remain unknown, and foul play is suspected in her disappearance. She left behind two children who were young at the time she went missing. After a decade with no contact or significant leads in her case, Melissa's family made the difficult decision to have her legally declared deceased in 2021. However, her case remains open and she is still listed as a missing person. The Sulphur Springs Police Department continues to be the primary investigating agency, and they encourage anyone with information to come forward. The case of Melissa Ann Darling is a heartbreaking story of a mother who vanished, leaving her family with unanswered questions and an ongoing search for justice.
