Cindy Rivera, a 19-year-old mother, was last seen on June 30, 2012, in Las Vegas, New Mexico. On that night, she left her home on Peggy Lee Lane, telling her family she would be back shortly, but she never returned. Cindy had been staying with her infant son at the home of a bedridden client, whom she was caring for in her mother’s absence. At around 2:00 a.m., Cindy called her mother to report that her ex-husband, Christopher Trujillo, was at the house, drunk, but she did not sound alarmed.
When Cindy's family went to the house the next morning, they found her son locked in the bathroom, crying, and signs of a struggle, such as her slippers and lighter left outside the home. Cindy was never seen again. Suspicion quickly fell on Trujillo and his associate, Anselmo Richard "Chemo" Ortiz, both of whom were observed with scratches and bloodstains after Cindy's disappearance. Despite efforts to locate her, Cindy's body has never been found, and foul play is strongly suspected.
Trujillo, who had made several incriminating statements about Cindy’s disappearance, died by suicide in 2021. Following his death, Ortiz was arrested and charged with kidnapping and conspiracy in connection to Cindy's case. While Trujillo admitted to having killed Cindy, Ortiz is believed to have assisted in the crime. Cindy’s remains have not been recovered, but the investigation continues.Last Seen: Jun 30, 2012
