In the quiet, rural landscape of McMinnville, Oregon, 24-year-old Peter Sean Kosky, known to his loved ones as Sean, disappeared on the evening of September 30, 2012. He was last seen at his cousin's home, situated in a remote area on a nature preserve in the 15500 block of northwest Orchard View Road. The residence was isolated, with no internet or phone service and only a single gravel road for access. That night, Sean was watching a movie on the couch after his cousin and two others in the house went to bed around 10:00 p.m. An hour later, a roommate went to get a glass of water and discovered that Sean was gone. He had vanished without a trace, leaving behind all of his personal belongings, including his wallet, money, cigarettes, and crucial medication he required for a severe form of epilepsy. The absence of these essential items immediately raised alarm among his family. The following morning, with no sign of Sean, a search was initiated in the dense, 130-acre wooded area that enveloped the property. Despite extensive efforts by search crews, which included draining ponds and using cadaver dogs, no clues to his whereabouts were found. The investigation was complicated by Sean's personal struggles; he had been involved with a difficult crowd and was reportedly using heroin and marijuana, which was particularly dangerous given his medical condition. His family shared that he had expressed feelings of being a burden and was told on the night he disappeared that he would not be able to live with his cousin as he had hoped. This news, coupled with his dependency on others due to his epilepsy which prevented him from driving or living alone, created a portrait of a vulnerable young man facing significant challenges. Years passed with no answers, leaving his family in a state of prolonged uncertainty. A significant, albeit small, discovery was made in April 2015 when a hunter found Sean's sandals at the edge of a ravine on an adjacent property, less than a mile from where he was last seen. This was the only piece of physical evidence found since his disappearance. His family hired a private investigator to explore new avenues, as they did not believe he would have taken his own life. The circumstances of Sean's disappearance remain a painful mystery for his loved ones and the community. The case is a somber reminder of the many individuals who go missing, leaving behind families to grapple with the unknown and the hope that one day they will find answers. His case remains unsolved.
