Gerald Clifford Bartlett, a 21-year-old man from Devils Lake, North Dakota, disappeared on July 1, 1925. At the time of his disappearance, he was described as being between 5'8" and 6'0", weighing 150 to 200 pounds, with blond hair and blue eyes. Gerald had served in the military, enlisting at a young age, but he had a complicated history that included desertion from Fort Bliss, Texas, in 1920. Despite this, he was living in Devils Lake at the time of the 1925 census.
